I enjoy visiting schools to talk about the story-writing process and how books are made. I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten to high school, and presentations are tailored to fit the age level and the size of the group. I have two different prepared presentations that can be modified or combined based on the time available and the special interests of the school. |

| "You Can Write a Story" Emphasis |

During hour-long presentations, playful group activities help students learn the basic elements of all stories. Then students have a chance to get started on a story of their own.
Week-long residencies begin with the above and guide students through other individual and group activities as they bring their stories to completion. Students also learn about the revision and editing processes. As a wrap-up, students have the chance to share their stories with their peers.
"Dear Lisa Bullard, I'm so glad that you came, because you REALLY inspired me to write a lot more than I do."

| "How a Book Is Made" Emphasis |

Show-and-tell materials give students a firsthand look at the stages of book production from manuscript through bound book. Students learn about several of the career options in the publishing field and learn the different roles of writers and illustrators.
Presentation time ranges from one-half hour to one hour.
"Roses are red Vilits are blue but nothing / noone writes better then...You, You, You...Kasey R."

| Fees |
|
|
Fees for school visits are negotiable based on factors such as the time commitment, number of presentations, and travel distance. School visits may range from one-half day visits to multi-week residencies.
I am also on the roster of writers for COMPAS's "Writers and Artists in the Schools" (WAITS) program, offering week-long or multi-week school residencies throughout the state of Minnesota.

| Book Sales |
|
| I am happy to autograph copies of my books during my visit. In fact, sponsoring organizations such as PTO groups will find that publishers are happy to give them a discount when they pre-order books. In this way book sales can help offset some of the costs of the school visit.
